Maeve was born on 8.31.09 at Augusta Health Center in Fishersville Virginia. Her parents hired Brookhaven midwife Misty Ward to be their doula. Here is what Maeve's mom had to say about that wonderful day.
"The birth of our beautiful daughter, Maeve, could not have been more perfect. Because Misty was on call for us during the entire labor process, my husband and I were able to ask her lots of little questions throughout the day (Is it time to go to the hospital now? How about now? Now?). With her help, we really felt that we were in control of the process. And, we were able to avoid going to the hospital too early, which was one of our big goals (Maeve came less than an hour and a half after we arrived at the hospital!). Misty was a tremendous help at the hospital. Being slightly suspicious of doctors, I trusted Misty and my husband to advocate for me and the keep the best interest of our baby at the forefront. Knowing where we were in the stages of labor made it easy not to take any drugs. Maeve arrived as a beautiful, bright, amazing little girl, and I was up and walking minutes after her birth. I wouldn’t change a single thing! Thank you, Misty!"
