Services Available at Brookhaven
Birth Center Birth
Brookhaven has two luxurious birthing suites available for our clients. We provide midwifery care from conception to 6 weeks postpartum. Our prenatal care is on a monthly basis until 28-30 weeks, every other week from 30-36 weeks, and weekly from 36 weeks until delivery. Prenatal exams occur at the birth center on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
When labor commences one of our midwives will meet the family at the center and begin the initial intake and set up for birth. Labor is allowed to progress on its own with the aid of our center's amenities, such as deep immersion tubs, birthing stools, and birth hammocks. Families have access to a full kitchen and the laboring mother can walk freely around the center, get into any position she wishes, and invite anyone she wants to accompany her during this precious time.
After the birth our midwives ensure that mom and baby are stable. We clean up, help mom get something to eat, and tuck her and her new baby into bed. We require mom and baby to stay at the birth center for a minimum of 2 hours postpartum. If a family chooses they may stay for up to six hours for no additional fee.
Once the family is home, one of our midwives will visit them within 72 hours after the birth to check on mom and baby. We will also call every other day to check in and will make additional appointments if necessary. During the second or third week we will come to your home for another postpartum check up.
Your final appointment is between five and six weeks at the birth center.

Birth Circle Birth Circle is an informal gathering of mothers and mothers-to-be. We hold that pregnancy is a normal, healthy life process that should be honored and respected. We dialogue about informed choices for birthing women and their families and seek to support each other in our childbearing years. We share our experiences, our resources, our birth stories, our hopes, our fears, our questions, our concerns, and our joys. We celebrate birth!
