With recent concerns over COVID-19, Brookhaven’s staff has decided to take some temporary precautionary steps. In the coming weeks, you may notice a few changes in how we will be executing our prenatals, births, and any other service we may offer.
Prenatal Policy:
One of the more major changes includes our change in location for our prenatal visits. From here on out, all visits will be approximately 30 minutes long and held outside weather permitting. This shortened length will give us plenty of time to clean in between clients and avoid groups in the waiting room. We also ask that you do not bring anyone to the prenatal appointment that is not essential i.e. please leave older children at home if possible. We will also reschedule any nonessential appointments and will be offering video conference call appointments for anyone that requests them or is showing signs of illness.
Birth Policy:
We ask that you limit visitors to the birth center to those that are necessary for labor support. Meaning, please only have people attend that will be in the birth room. No family waiting around in the birth center. No visitors at all if they are showing signs or symptoms of illness or have recently been exposed to someone with a positive diagnosis.
Visiting Policy Postpartum
As we only have people in the birth center 4-6 hours postpartum, we ask that grandparents, older children, and other guests visit you at home and do not come to the birth center to meet the baby.
We understand that this may create hardships and deviate from your dream birth experience, we are sincerely sorry for any pain that this may cause. However, in order to keep our entire community, staff, and families safe, we feel that this is necessary. We will let you know when we go back to our normal routine.
Rest assured, we are taking all necessary steps in order to make sure we are staying healthy and safe so that we can be there for you during your time of need. We are doing extensive extra cleaning and many behind the scenes modifications. Misty has also taken the time to create “Staff Wellness Kits” for each staff member to ensure that we are at our best so that we can serve you best.
Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns over our current policy.
