I am beginning my midwifery studies at Brookhaven, and I am so excited to learn from the entire Brookhaven team and, of course, from YOU! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your pregnancy care journey.
As an adoptee myself, I understand and value that every family is unique and deserving of individualized, compassionate care. My first experience with birth work was on a volunteer trip to Guatemala as a pre-teen. I had the honor of meeting a collective of local midwives and learning about the vital role they played in providing maternity care to communities with limited access to medical services. With that spark and strong female role models, I developed a lasting curiosity about birth and a passion for women's health. I believe in supporting physiologic birth and that often-unnecessary interventions can have a cascade effect, leading to traumatic birth experiences. My philosophy about birth is rooted in positive psychology. In practice, this looks like striving for better outcomes from the start by encouraging healthy habits and prioritizing informed decision-making. I am a psychology undergraduate at James Madison University, a newly trained doula, and hold current CPR and NRP certifications.
Outside of my studies, I enjoy performing arts, traveling, and regularly volunteering in the local area.
