I found my passion for midwifery and natural birth in high school while doing a career research project. My search began with learning about labor and delivery nurses, but after researching and watching a few documentaries, I started questioning many interventions that seemed unnecessary. That’s when I found midwifery. Midwifery felt like a calling and something I truly wanted to pursue, although life didn't lead me directly into it. I was raised on the central coast of California and after graduating high school, I joined the US Navy and served for 6 years as a naval air crewman. While still in the Navy I attended the birth of my nephew and completed a Doula training course in 2020. I met my husband in the Navy and we purchased a home in his native Virginia after finishing our military contracts. After settling into our home in the valley, I applied for an apprenticeship at Brookhaven, and I’m grateful to now be serving our moms in the area as an apprentice midwife.
In my little spare time I enjoy working in the garden, preserving my own food, practicing herbal medicine, raising quail and chickens, cooking/baking and various textile arts as well as woodworking.
